Windows 7 RC 256 colors?
I installed the Windows 7 RC today and everything seemed to be going okay, until I installed the guest additions (I'm using VB 2.2.2). Then my display is locked in at 256 colors! Which not only looks crappy, but makes it hard to navigate the controls. Anyone else experience this? Should I just wait for a VirtualBox update? I don't think I had this problem with Windows 7 Beta...

Re: Windows 7 RC 256 colors?
So I discovered that you actually can navigate through the display properties in 7 and update this fairly easily. In 256 colors mode, the dropdowns don't look like dropdowns though

Try installing the GA in compatibility mode.

I've had the same problem but was able to fix it this way :
- revert the video driver install to the "Previous version" (standard VGA adapter)
- reboot the virtual machine
- update the driver again to VirtualBox Graphics Adapter
Maybe it will work for you too.

Re: Windows 7 RC 256 colors?
I encountered the same problem and was able to solve it by:
- Uninstalling the Guest Additions and restarting the virtual machine
- Reinstalling the Guest Additions and choosing to restart later
- In screen resolution, setting the number of colors for the monitor to 32 bit
- Restarting the virtual machine

Which architecture of Windows 7 did you install? 32 (x86) or 64 (amd64) bit? Did you use a special user for installing?

Re: Windows 7 RC 256 colors?
Confirmed on x86.
No special user for the install.
Solution:
- Revert the video driver to "Previous Version"
- Reboot the virtual machine
(these 2 steps are just to see what i do ^^)
-Reinstall the Guest Additions
-Restart the virtual machine
No special user for the install.

Should be fixed in 2.2.4.
