Can't remove CD image from Media Manager

Post by BassKozz »

I can't remove a CD image from my Media Manager:
Image
The file has been relocated or removed from my computer and the media manager won't let me remove or release the image from the media manager, so I now get the following error message every time I load up VB:
Image

I read somewhere that I could simply remove the entry from /home/user/.VirtualBox/VirtualBox.xml. So I tried that and then next time I opened up VB my VirtualMachine was inaccessible:

Luckily I backed-up and restored the XML file and I can now access my VirtualMachine again, but I can't seem to shake this image file from my Media Manager...

What gives?
How can I remove this image from my Media Manager?

As you can see from the first screenshot when I select the 'check' option and try and remove that entry (by right clicking it) from the media manager the remove & release options are grey'ed out: Image I can't select either of them, and I tried pressing 'DELETE' on my keyboard and that doesn't work either.

Update:
I even tried creating a file in that path so that VB would see that the file existed again...
Well that got rid of the warning message I kept getting: Image
But I still can't remove it from the media manager: Image
I even tried removing it from the XML file again, but that doesn't work I still get an inaccessible VM: Image

Any idea's?

You will have to edit all the xml files, the main one and the machine(s) referring to them. Just search for the uuid.

That did the trick, there is a section in the Machine's XML file that looks like this:

Code: Select all

        <DVDDrive passthrough="false">
          <Image uuid="{c0a0fa9d-69c7-4ce2-0fba-36a818037fa6}"/>
        </DVDDrive>
And that was pointing to the image file that I wanted to get rid of, so by changing the uuid to something else (a legit/working CD image) it was FIXED :D
Thanks vbox4me2 :wink:
