I'm running Versions 2.2.2 r46594 on my Sager 9262 with a 3.0ghz Q965 Core 2 Quad, 4gigs of 800mhz ram, and 2 9800m gtx gpu's running windows 64bit ultimate. I have a windows 32bit business VM set up that I primarily use to utilize my school's VPN connection as Cisco's VPN Client does not support 64bit OS's. For some reason there is a "VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter" that always displays as having "Limited Connectivity" inside of the Host machine's network connections. My VM's internet/network capabilities seem to work fine however, it kind of bugs me that I always have this connection with limited connectivity. Any idea what's up there with it? I'm using Comodo Security Suite as as far as I know it's set to allow it to pass through. Let me know if you need any more information as I'm sure I didn't give out everything that would needed to be known.

I am having the same issue since upgrading the VirtualBox software to the new 2.2.2 version. I run Windows Vista 32 bit with Ubuntu 8.10 running in VirtualBox. Ever since upgrading, the 'VirtualBox Host Only Network' lists in network and sharing center and also in the system tray when you scroll over the Wi-Fi icon as 'Unidentified Network and Limited Connectivity'.

What it does to me is when I boot up the PC and go into Vista's 'Network' from the start menu, it won't list all the network devices, and it has a message at the top of the window that says that 'network discovery' is turned off and to click here to turn it back on, once I turn it back on, I can then see all the network devices in my home again.

I view it as a nuisance but not a problem as it is only two more clicks to turn network discovery back on (well three with UAC). What I have learned is that the VM uses the Wi-Fi connection through Vista and calls it ethernet (VirtualBox Host Only Ethernet Adapter) even though it is using Wi-Fi. You can see this in the Unidentified Adapters properties in Network and Sharing center. This has to do with the way that the VM is setup. The particular's of VM functionality is currently beyond my realm of understanding, but if it is'nt broken, don't fix it! I can tell you for sure that your PC is NOT being compromised by a hacker or malicious software.

I would just ignore it.
