Vista Host: Need Card Reader & Usb Support in Guest XP

Post by illwill »

I have an HP all in one machine running Vista 64 as the host and XP Pro as the guest using virtual box version 2.2.0
Basically this vista machine is a touchscreen kiosk running xp in a virtual machine, it going to be used as a photo editing station, i want to give the customers access to the usb and card reader to open their files for editing, is it possible in virtualbox to do this without the guest having problems getting the cards to be read when the user plugs in?

You need to setup a blank filter in the USB settings of VBox Blue (.) not a green (+) Give that a try and see if it will work for you.

No settings.
Create the blank filter in VBox settings and start the guest.
Once guest is running unplug the USB device and plug it back in so the guest gets focus.
You should see it a few seconds later.
