Problems with Full Screen in Windows 7 RC

I installed Windows 7 RC as a guest in VirtualBox 2.2.2 running on Windows Vista + guest additions. Everything works fine except for when I go to full screen mode, the graphics seems to switch to 256 colors mode and there isn't a way to get back to true color, even when going back to windowed mode. The current workaround is to revert to a clean snapshot that I am keeping.

It might help to know how much memory you are giving to the guest. Please give all information that is available to you. You can read this and it will give you some insight http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=8208

Also how much video memory do you give it?
And what is your (host) full screen resolution?

ive tried to uninstall guest addition to reinstall, to change from one to other driver to force one different driver inside the device manager as intel and ati video card, but nothing change de vb driver give just 800 x 600 any other driver give just 4 3 resolutions

other audio works fine networks work fine shared folder works fine vb work smooth color and resolution are ok but not the right resolution i can see video

how can i force to put on a widescreen resolution? or how can i fix this problem?

1454 MB of RAM and 32 MB of video memory for the Windows 7 RC guest. 3D acceleration is disabled.

I have this problem as well. I gave the guest 32MB of video ram, enabled and disabled acceleration, no dice. Switch to full screen drops the colors to 256 and the only way to get it back is to revert to a snapshot or delete and reinstall.

Got the same problem. But here I just had to change the resolution within the guest in windowed mode a bit higher and was able to set back the 256 color depth to 32bit. After that I don't get these color depth changes again switching to full screen mode.

Had same problem.

Tried some various things but made no difference

Then: On Win7 desktop, right click, select screen resolution, advanced settings, monitor tab, bottom of that colors, pull down and select a higher value.
Now OK. I think it got screwed doing additions and was not capable of resetting itself. I had some trouble finding this as MS love to move things about for the sake of it.

I found the trick is using well-known resolutions allowed you to change to other color depths. The properties window for the monitor didnt even show any other options besides 256 until I moved into a well-known resolution. I full-screened my virtual windows 7 on an external monitor for 1280x1024 and magically all the other options came back. I guess you could drag the shape of the window until you hit one. (like 800x600, 1024,768, etc..)
