It seems to happen when I have multiple vms running. But if I only run just one virtual machine it seems like all is fine and dandy. Hope this provides some hint.

I have the same problem using Vista 64 as host and Ubuntu 9.04 as guest. Virtualbox crashes when I stop a VM. For me when Ubuntu stops, Virtualbox crashes at the end of the process, when the Guest stops (ACPI)?
Normally when I just started the host, the guest can be runed and stopped 1 to 3 times, then it starts to crash...

Same here....
Host VISTA 64, the guest I was running is another VISTA 64 as guest.... when rebooting it hung up.... I killed it but the process VirtualBox.exe is still running consuming 25% of the CPU (in a Quad core)... and I can't kill the process.....

I had just reinstalled the host, installed the latest virtualbox and imported the virtualboxes from the previous installation

Is re-installing VBox 2.2.2 helping with the issue? I have tried this twice. But I am willing to give it another try this Monday.

Hi all, I just got back from holiday, hence not replying here for a while, and just got the issue again today this time during an important demo and very shortly after bigging up Virtual box over VMWare.
I haven't found that reinstalling/repairing 2.2.2 helped - the issue still occurs. In fact I tried to roll back to a previous version but couldn't and had to spend several hours just getting 2.2.2 to work again.
It also seems to happen to me when I am running multiple guests concurrently (as someone mentioned below).

Which host CPU is that? And no, re-installing would most probably not solve your problem.

Same problem here. I'm running Windows 7 RC 64bit and VirtualBox 2.2.2
Currently the problem is either
- Guest hangs during shutdown/restart. Still possible to close VirtualBox
- Guest hangs, VirtualBox.exe is not possible to kill even by using End Task
- Guest gets BSOD during boot. Reboots 3-4 times and then it suddenly boots (only experienced with Windows 2003 32bit guest so far)

Update: Seems to only happen when I have guests running under AMD-V. I.e. right now it works fine with 32bit hosts, which does not need AMD-V, but as soon as I boot one of the AMD-V hosts I get problems again. Processor is Phenom 9600 (Quad core)

What we want to know is the information on the processor not the machine.
Dell does not make the processor. It must be either Intel or AMD

Please send the processor make and model.

And give info what type of Intel or AMD is in there, there are at least 6 types of intel quad cores.

Sorry for posting crappy information. Dell T3400 has option for Quad-core Intel® Core™2 Quad with 1066MHz FSB, 2x4MB L2 Cache, XD, VT, EIST. This seems like a quad core to me.
