I have this error when I try to install Virtual Box 2.2.2:
"the older version of sun xvm virtual box cannot be removed".

I before removed virtual box 2.1.4.

I had difficulties installing VirtualBox 2.2.2 without first removing v2.2.0.

I then couldn't remove version 2.2.0, so I re-installed 2.2.0 from the downloaded executable, restarted and then installed 2.2.2.

VirtualBox works fine now.

In most cases you can also just do a repair install... In add/remove programs or "uninstall a program" highlight and click repair. After that finishes you should be able to install the new version.
