Mouse problems with 2.2.X

I am running VirtualBox 2.2.2 on CentOS 5.3/64-bit/AMD. My guest OS is Windows XP/Pro/32-bit.
Sometime back, I installed Diablo II on the guest, and it ran fine without problems. When I upgraded to 2.2.0, I had problems with the mouse. The guest OS would boot up without issues, and the mouse seemed to work fine. However, when I started the game, I had no mouse control or cursor on the game screen. I had to guess where the cursor was just to try and hit the 'exit' button to quit, playing was not even possible. I upgraded to 2.2.2, and still have the same issue. I also updated the guest additions, but to no avail.
Any help or debugging tips would be greatly appreciated.
