Debian 64bit Guest on WinXP 32 Host

Post by jarni »

Hi,

I've googled some time but it seems that I need to as here:

Can I run Debian 64bit guest on my WinXP 32bit Host running on AMD Athlon 64 CPU with AMD64 technology?

Because while I try installing Debian it tells me something like "...you need an x86-64, but you only have an i1586...". I clearly have x86-64.

So what would be an answer?

Check the VirtualBox FAQ and Manual. That says what you need to be able to run 64 bit Guests. If you don't have an AMD-v capable processor and mainboard, you can't.
