bridged on nic1

Post by bonytony »

I tried using thefollowing command

VBoxManage modifyvm "plantshop" -nic1 bridged

as specified in the manual in section 6 and it says bridged is an invalid type :o

looking at the VBoxManage help - bridged is not listed -

has there been a change in the way this is done in virtualbox 2.2 ?

Hi,
you have to specify the bridged adapter on host too. Try

Code: Select all

VBoxManage modifyvm --bridgeadapter1 eth0
if eth0 is the real Adapter connecting your host to your real LAN.

After that,

Code: Select all

VBoxManage showvminfo "<your machine>"
should show your nic with a bridged interface.

Thanks for the replys guys - I think I got it sussed - theres no option in v box 2.2 for bridged. There is an option for hostif which I think is the option I need. I only need to specify now the ip address somehow for the vm and fire it up. I nottice there is also another option in the vbox manage for hostifdev which I think is the key, I'll let you know how I get on but I would be very interested if some supervboxuser has managed to suss this out already and uses it :).
Are these options undocumented because I have not seen them after reading the manual
