Display resolution with Guest Additions

Post by rpw »

Hello,

I've included the Virtualbox-Repo to my sources.list in Kubuntu 9.04 on my Laptop (Samsung Core2Duo, 3GB RAM, Nvidia 9200 with 512MB VRAM) and installed Virtualbox 2.2.2. After that I installed Windows XP including SP3 and the latest updates, everything worked fine so far.

But as soon as I installed the "Guest Additions" the maximum Display Resolution was set to 800x600, even if I reserved 128MB VRAM for this machine in settings of Virtualbox.

Do you know how I change it? Strange thing is, without the "Guest Additions" I could choose higher resolutions, but who want's to work without them?

Regards,

Check my howto in the Linux Guests forum for how to install the GA if you had problems with it.

You can't select a higher resolution through the GUI of your Guest OS. Change the size of the VM Window, it will resize automatically.
