VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
I am trying to install Debian Lenny in VirtualBox 2.2 but it keeps failing at Debian's "select and install software" section. I have tried installing it from an iso, from the cd drive, and even from the net cd, but they all give the same problem. Do I need to downgrade VirtualBox to a more stable version?

Re: VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
There is a new maintenance release to Vbox (version 2.2.2) I would suggest that you upgrade to that and give it another try.

Re: VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
Sorry, I should have been clearer, I am using Version 2.2.2 r46594.
I have even done a cd integrity check and it reports the cd as being ok.

Re: VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
Ok this is starting to sound like a network issue.
Try setting VBox to use the Intel Pro adapter and also select Bridged. See if you can get past the select software to complete the install and then you can try adjusting the network settings later if you need to.

I got the same problem after doing the following
Adapter type: Intel Pro/1000 MT Desktop (8254OEM)
Attached to: Bridged Adapter
Name: eth0
Cable Connected: False

Re: VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
Still sounds like a network issue. What is you exact setup. Cable, DSL, are you connected direct to the (modem) or do you have a router?
Try to do the install without the network adapter selected and see if you can force the install and pickup the network after the install is complete. It should load the OS with all that it needs without searching the net for the update and extras that way.

Re: VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
I have cable which is connected to a router before it gets to my pc. I have tried it with and without a network adapter and it does not seem to make a difference. The only difference is that when I do not include a network adapter, Debian Lenny says that it cannot find a driver. Other than that it continues normally until it gets to the "select and install software" section.
Just as a test, I have downloaded and installed fedora, opensuse, and ubuntu on virtualbox and they all worked perfectly. For debian lenny, I have downloaded the netinstall, the cd install the dvd install and they all give the same problem.
Help.

Re: VirtualBox 2.2 Failing
I can confirm the problem. Host is Vista 64bit and Lenny get stuck at installing the dpk packages (base system with desktop system installation). I tried the testing image and that will run. But the x-server don't start. I also started openSUSE 11.1 live on vbox 2.2.2 and that will work like a charm. Also tried different network settings with no success. For now I went back to 2.1.4 and I'm waiting for the next vbox version.
Edit: For that package problem I got it also on 2.1.4 now. So I found out that this is something with the repository. So I used another instead of the standard debian one and installation went fine also on 2.2.2 . Before that I had to switch to bridged networking too.

Hi Gargi
Which repository did you use in the end to get debian to install on 2.2.2?
