I am trying to run an Ubuntu server 8.04 on VB 2.1.4 but gather I need to enable PAE to allow the server to work. Unfortunately the PAE/NX box is grayed out so I can not select it!
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? (I have Vbox running on Kubuntu8.04)

You need to verify that your PC supports PAE, and yes you must have it to install Ubuntu 8.04 server in VBox.
The only other thing that I could tell you is the VM you are setting up must be completely closed and in the stop state to be able to change settings.

And if you don't want to change anything, boot the VM from the install media, drop to a recovery console (recover broken system) and install a different kernel, like linux-virtual. That doesn't need PAE. You can then remove the server kernel.
