VBOX kills my internet connection

I'm trying to setup a virtual web server on my laptop (just for testing to learn how to do it, then I'll transfer to a full server). I have a linksys wireless-g broadband WRT54G Router and a Dell Vostro 1700 Laptop with Windows XP as the host OS. In order for a web server to work you have to set a static ip address. So, I assign, in the Host OS, the VirtualBox Network a static IP from the Router (192.168.1.111, Mask: 255.255.255.0, gateway: 192.168.1.1, DNS: 129.250.35.250, 129.250.35.251), as well, I assign my laptop itself a static ip of 192.168.1.100.
The problem goes as such. Unless the VirtualBox Network is set to DHCP, it completely knocks out my internet connection, I can't even ping the router. The same goes for the internal (Client OS) network configs, if it's set to DHCP the external internet is ok, but the moment I assign it an IP it flips out and kills my connection.
Another problem is that even though I have them BOTH on DHCP, the virtualbox doesn't have internet connection at all, not even in the least. I can't even ping the ip of the router from it, nor the virtualbox network. I know they talk (the host os virtualbox network adapter and the client os network adapter), but they seem to be hitting each other and causing lots of problems. I honestly have no idea whatsoever how to fix this problem.
Also, aside from virtual box, i set up four bridged connections on my laptop just for the heck of it because i really didn't know what it was or what it did, and now i can't get rid of them. They have no configuratoins, no connectivity, nothing, entirely and completely blank, but whne i try to delete it or disable it, it gives me an error.
