Logging on to Win2K3 - keyboard layout

Hi,

my Win2K3 VM is set up for the UK keyboard, as is my host environment (XP).

When I initially log in to the VM, the keyboard layout is UK. I have a password that contains an @ sign. However, when the Win2K3 VM locks due to non use and I ctrl+alt+del to log into it, the @ sign is now behind the 2 key, and the doublequote is where the @ key is - indicating a US keyboard layout? But when I've logged in, I still have a UK layout (I typed the keys into Notepad, so the 2 key is doublequotes again).

Any clues what the issue is?

Brian

A workaround could be removing all other keyboard layouts on the Host so it can't switch anymore.

the host (Win XP) is enabled for UK keyboard only.

I'm using the Win2K3 VM for training, and I've just noticed whilst learning about Backups that it wanted the " rather than @ key when setting the user account password, so its within the VM as well as logging in from being locked. Some cases it expects " other cases it expects @. I suspect its virtualbox, as I've had Win2K3 installed within Virtual Pc before without problem (but the latter was so dire in performance with Win2K3 it was unuseable on a 2gb laptop).

Easiest way around my problem was to change my password so I wasn't using any non alphanumeric keys.
