I'm running Uuntu Hardy, v.8.04 and I have downloaded the recommended verso 2.2 for Hardy. I have set up a virtual machine named WinXP but when i try to start the VM with the start icon I receive the following;
Failed to start the virtual machine WinXP.
Cannot open host device '/dev/sdb' for read/write access. Check the permissions of that device ('/bin/ls -l /dev/sdb'): Most probably you need to be member of the device group. Make sure that you logout/login after changing the group settings of the current user (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).
Unknown error creating VM (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).
I have tried the Ubuntu list and forum to no avail.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

Did you log out? You can't change the group permissions of your active session (there is a workaround if you do "su - $USER" in the shell, it'll be a new login, so you would be able to run VirtualBox, but it's a lot easier to just log out entirely).

Re: VB installed but perissin
I kept poking around and the problem was my USB Floppy Drive. I do not run an internal and as soon as I deactivated the flppy from te VM it loaded my Windows and it's solved. Thank you for your help.
