Using Windows printers from Unix guest

Post by thuette »

I'm running Virtual Box 2.2.0 on a Vista host with Kubuntu 8.04 guest. I can print from the guest to printers attached to the network, but this circumvents Windows' print queue management. Is it possible to print from the Linux guest to a Windows printer installed on the Vista host?

Thanks,

Sure, share the printer, add tcpip printing support on the Host, then lpr away from Linux Guests.

Guess I need some more help - how do I add "tcpip printing support" on Windows? I have enabled file and printer sharing on the host, and shared the printer, but cannot "see" the printer from the guest (neither as a network printer, nor as a SAMBA shared printer). What am I missing?
