Hi,

VirtualBox was developed to make a complete virtual computer "moveable". I create a new virtual maschine and the copy them to 100 pc in my company.

This does VirtualBox software not! Since i used VirtualBox i get in more touble than simple installing 100 pc's.

If i try to reuse an old .vdi i get this message:

D:\Images\VirtualBox>vboxmanage clonehd WindowsXP-Backup.vdi WindowsXP-Work.vdi
VirtualBox Command Line Management Interface Version 2.2.0
(C) 2005-2009 Sun Microsystems, Inc.

ERROR: Could not find file for the hard disk 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Fra

dDisk, callee IUnknown
Context: "OpenHardDisk(src, AccessMode_ReadWrite, srcDisk.asOutParam())" at line
562 of file VBoxManageDisk.cpp

Here i try to simple clone a vdi. The original system crashed and was reinstalled, therefor i have onle the .vdi file and nothing else.

What should i do?

Arhh !

Are we in the year 1972 !? Since 30 years of programming, there are still exist idiots - how don't know to make a working software

Here is the solution:
D:\Images\VirtualBox>vboxmanage clonehd D:\Images\VirtualBox\WindowsXP-Backup.vdi D:\Images\VirtualBox\WindowsXP-Work.vdi

Just adding the complete path name.

You fail to understand that if you want to use relative paths for the source file, the VDI has to be registered first. Then you need to give the full path of the destination.

If you have so much problems with it, why post here and complain? Go to a different program. They will have the same issues, if not other and perhaps worse.

Just a guesss, but probably not the same idiots who can't be bothered to read the manual or the FAQ where these issues have been addressed for quite a while.
