write alphanumeric but see underline characters

Post by t10 »

Hello,

when i write alphanumeric characters in guest command line, I only see underline characters.
For exemple,
if I edit in VIM, I write "This is a example" I see "T____________a____".
When I go to the begin's line with the arrow keys, I see "This is a example " (The cursor is in the first character)
Is the same in command line.

I'm VirtualBox beginner and I don't have idea, but if is a clue:
I have Ubuntu host, I has problem with kernel header because guest is ubuntu server and it don't have generic headers. To be resolved with Setting - General - Advanced - Activating Enable PAE/NX option.
Main Details:
Video Memory: 12 MB
IO APIC: Disabled
VT-x/AMD-V: Enabled
Nested Paging: Disabled
PAE/NX: Enabled ---> I can't disable, if I will run the guest :-)
3D Acceleration: Disabled

sorry for my English, bye, bye

Does this also work the same way with VI?
Do you have all of the updates for the version of Ubuntu you are using installed?

Best try is with Nano. VIM is based on VI, hence Vi IMproved.
Is your CLI also the correct one, UTF-8?
