Hello!
I use VirtualBox with XP as a guest OS in my Fedora 10 to start some win-programs, which I haven't in Linux.
What a wonderful VM! Thank you very much for it!
Recently, I had an interesting trouble.
I've got Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English with two installation protected CDs. I tried to install LDOCE on the guest OS (XP SP2 into Virtual Box 2.1.4).
At the end of the installation process LDOCE installation program possibly tried to check authenticity of the CD (it's perhaps SecuROM protection). I guess it couldn't do it, so at the start of the installed LDOCE one writes: “A required security module can not be activated”. There is no such event in a native MS XP OS. It's not a problem this XP as well – I try same procedure with Vista as a guest OS – result was the same.
I think it's a problem of virtualization of CD drive in guest OS, which blocks the possibility to check geniune CD record. I proved this copying installed folder with LDOCE into wine Program Files directory. After I started LDOCE in Fedora through wine, the program asked the CD, checked it and successfully started.
Can you help me with the problem? I need LDOCE in the guest OS.

Re: Install protected CD software
I've encounterd the same problems installing Oxford CD dictionaries (Spanish, French ,English etc.)
But some of them could start on PC with Hardware Virtualization Support (AMD-V) and "PassThrough" enabled on CD/DVD-ROM settings.
Which version is your LDOCE? For Ver.5, there is updatepatch.
