Hello,
I've got a display problem. Parts of the screen are invisible in seamless mode (I can toggle back and forth between modes, every other mode displays the whole screen). By this I mean that you can see, for example, the top-left corner of one screen, the bottom fifth of another (screenshot) and not everything on the screen is...erm... clickable?
It can be fixed by adjusting the resolution, but that is difficult because I have to position the window in such a way that the desired button is in a clickable area, and then move it to position the next button, and I can't really see which areas of the screen are actually clickable (there's probably a better word but I don't know it). Changing the resolution goes like this:
"The display control panel is unable to change the display settings. You may not have the appropriate administrative rights to change these settings." (I click okay.)
"The display settings being saved are invalid. Please try a different combination of settings." (I click okay, and try again.)
... then everything looks normal.
My setup:
Host: Ubuntu 8.10
Guest: XP with SP2
VirtualBox 2.2.0
Anyone know what might be amiss?

Re: Parts of Screen Invisible
You need at least 10 meg of video memory for full screen and I would suggest 16 meg for seamless.

Re: Parts of Screen Invisible
So, dxdiag on the VM reports 8mb of video memory, while I know my card has 256 mb.
How can I change how much video memory the VM uses? ETA: silly question, nevermind.
Assigning it 20mb of video memory didn't fix the problem. =( Any other ideas?

Re: Parts of Screen Invisible
shoot the memory up to 64.
Also Windows needs to see standard memory allocations or it goes nuts. 8, 16, 32, 64,128

Thank you for the tidbit, I didn't know that. Giving it 64mb fixed the problem.Perryg wrote:Also Windows needs to see standard memory allocations or it goes nuts. 8, 16, 32, 64,128
Awesome! My life is that much less frustrating.
