USB doesn't work in guest
I'm running Windows Server 2008 as a guest, and though the keyboard and mouse work, it will not recognize a plugged in flash media device. I enabled usb and usb 2.0 in the machines settings, and I tried adding different filters, but it still will not recognize my memory card (connected via a usb card reader). Vbox seems to know that its there but the Windows guest does not. It might be a problem with Windows, but I thought I would ask.

Re: USB doesn't work in guest
Use a blank filter in the settings (blue dot and not the green +) and then when you start the guest unplug the reader and plug it back in to get focus.
Wait a few seconds and it should appear.

Re: USB doesn't work in guest
I had tried that before and it didn't work, but I found the solution. I had to add a line in /etc/fstab and add mount -a at the end of /etc/init.d/boot.local.
