I've been running a Windows XP 32bit VM and a Ubuntu 8.10 64Bit VM on a Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit host with VirtualBox for some time now without issue. I recently upgraded to 2.2.0 VB and updated the Guest Additions on both VM's and things were working fine. Today I upgraded the host machine to Ubuntu 9.04. This required the VB Kernel to be recompiled which all went fine. Now both the Windows XP and the Ubuntu (still 8.10) VM's freeze up and also the host freezes up after the VMs startup and run just a little while (a minute or two, sometimes immediately after it boots up). This also freezes the host and I have to use the machine reset to get it back.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
Screen freezes with 2.2.0 and Ubuntu 9.04 64 Bit

This can be caused by running out of system resources. (an issue with 2.2.0 that is fixed in the next SVN)
How much RAM do you have and how much are you assigning to the guests.
Also do you run more than on guest at a time? If so have you tried to run just one to see what happens?
One other thing that I have noticed causing freezing in this version is the network adapter.
You can change the network adapter to use the Intel PRO/1000 MT desktop instead of the PCnet-FastIII that is used by default.

I also have this problem. Problem starts when I try to minimize the xp guest window. I'm going to downgrade to the vb that comes with ubuntu 9.04 instead of using the one from virtualbox.org
