32bit guest XP gets blue screen after moving to 64bit Host

Post by denisliber »

HI!
I have a virtual disk with XP on it, it was created 1.5 years ago and used on 32 hosts (Ubuntu Gutsy, Hardy) all of them are 32 bits.
Yesterday I have installed fresh 64bit Ubuntu 9.04, imported (created new machine using the same disk image) and now the XP can not load, it gives me the blue screen of death and restarts :(
Can some one help me please....

P.S. I have tried with and without VT-X/AMD-V option, no success.

Check your IDE Controller Type setting on the General/Advanced page. Try switching between PIIX3 and PIIX4. This is a common problem that causes the BSOD on XP when importing a .VDI.
