sharing folders host ubuntu 8.10 with guest XP

Post by Jonesie »

i have an XP guest running on Ubuntu 8.10. I have added the sharedfolder /home/billy/Project to the guest settings.

I've tried running the command

Code: Select all

net use x:\\vboxsvr\Project
but get
System error 67 has occurred.

The network name cannot be found.
I've read that guest additions have to be installed but my version of the sun virtualbox GUI doesn't have the 'Devices' menu.

Can anyone help?

You need to do this from the guest. Start the guest and then machine tab and install guest additions.

Also if you want this share to be accessible every time you open the guest run (net use x:\\vboxsvr\Project -p) from the command line.
