Hi,
Not sure if I have chosen the right place to ask this?
While trying to work out why I could not maximize my VB which contains XP I have completely lost the VB Icon. The host is Ubuntu 8.10. I,ll ask the same question in a Ubuntu specific forum but if anyone can help that would be great?
Virtual box icon gone
Re: Virtual box icon gone
If the VDI is still there can you recreate the VM (settings)?

Re: Virtual box icon gone
I,m not sure I know what you mean? How do I reset the settings?
Re: Virtual box icon gone
You are saying you lost the icon, I assume the icon inside the VBox GUI? if not you need to be more clearer whats missing.

Re: Virtual box icon gone
OK I was able to go to Application > Sun Virtual Box on the menu bar which activated my VB. Now the Sun Virtual Box Icon no longer resides under applications completely disappeared?
Re: Virtual box icon gone
No idea, maybe you dragged and moved it elsewhere, not really a VBox issue, try the ubuntu forums.

Re: Virtual box icon gone
If you can't find the icon in your menu, but you get VB if you run VirtualBox (note the uppercase V and B) from a terminal, then you need to go to the Ubuntu Forums and ask how to get it back. If you get nothing, you removed VB.

Re: Virtual box icon gone
I've just installed VirtualBox 2.2.2 on Ubuntu 9.04.
The install went without surprises, and I can run from the command line. But the icon is missing.
In the manual, 3.1 Starting the graphical user interface:
• On a Linux or Solaris host, depending on your desktop environment, a
“VirtualBox” item may have been placed in either the “System” or “System Tools”
But not so, it's not in the menu anywhere, and neither is it visible in the menu options. It's repeatable, on two ubuntu systems, so doesn't seem like a Ubuntu issue.

Re: Virtual box icon gone
Did you log out and back in? There was a version where the menu entry wasn't shown until you logged back in. That is needed anyway after you added yourself tot he vboxusers group.
