Using the GUI to set shared folders, in the dialog for adding a share, click the add folder button, click the drop down for the folder path, then select other to bring up a directories dialog, except that it usually crashes here.
By crash I mean the GUI just goes bang and disappears.
I'm on XP SP3, the guest in this case is Ubuntu. I'm using v2.2.0 r45846

Re: VBox GUI crashes
Anyone else disappointed the update today didn't fix this?
I'd think this is a pretty critical issue, considering someone doing a lot of work then going to share a folder and without notice everything's gone. I've been trying to push VBox over VPC at work, and stupid stuff like this is starting to make me look bad
.
Is there an easy workaround that people are aware of?
Is there already a bug number for this that someone knows about so I can track its progress?
Thanks.

Re: VBox GUI crashes
First not only does it crash.....
But you can not install the new update 2.2.2.46594..
It starts the install then backs it up.
I thought it was installed cause I didnot watch the install progress. came back found screen to select finish and I did.
Folder problems still.
This morning I booted up an the infamous screen said new version available.
I then checked the version and sure enough. was still 2.2.0.41885...
I tried a re-install and what it go thru and then back out install. I went add remove programs and tried to uninstall. did the same thing started uninstalling then backup up and said error code 25 something. I disconnected all virtual devices, removed network controller tried again would not work. got old version 2.1.2.41885.. installed, did not install all the way. finally I deleted the .virtualbox folder and the xVM Virtualbox folder.
Then installed and was able to uninstall the 2.2.0.41885 version. I up graded to 2.1.4.42893.
I have stopped there. I do not know if the update version 2.2.2.46596 is any better, or if it has problems. This could be a problem of 64 bit goofing up 32 bit. Since they are no longer separated.
I have Windows XP 32 bit as the HOST. I have not tried this in Linux as the host yet.
