SMC on VirtualBox

Hello everyone. I have recently began using VirtualBox and I must say that I am truly satisfied with the quality this free software has to offer.
I am currently managing a college Unix computer lab consisting of 26 computers, each dual-booting Solaris 10 (the latest one) and Windows Vista on two separate hard disks. Due to some PHP troubles I have had and the fact that the teacher's request was at the last minute, I resorted to use VirtualBox on the Vista part of the computers and running a virtual version of Solaris on it. The request was that the users gain temporary access to the local root of the Solaris clients using a automated password generated at specific times and dates. Also, I needed to create a new partition for the clients, but due to the way the system was set up in the previous year by the previous administrator, it was too risky to change the Solaris that was already functioning.
While the VirtualBox worked well, there is something that is bothering me. Is it possible for the students to use the Solaris Management Console, executable via the "smc&" command? If so, how so?
I can run the command, fine. However, I cannot get my info. Is this due to the fact that it is running on a virtual hard drive?
Thanks any help I get, truly appreciated.
