Hello, I'm using VirtualBox 2.1.4,
and my guest and host are Ubuntu 8.10,
My question is:
I set the networking using host interface, if I connect a physical cable (to a switch),
my host and guest can ping to each other,
but if I unplug the cable, the host and guest can't ping to each other,
can the host and guest still talk to each other even though my laptop is not
connected to a network?
thank you,
Faizal

Re: Cable connected needed in Host Interface Networking?
Its in the FAQ, you need the MS loopback adapter, see MS's website.

Unpluggin the cable will shut down the NIC, so no more traffic can be routed through it.

Re: Cable connected needed in Host Interface Networking?
Yes but in the VBox driver properties you can set cable connect to 'always connected'.
