Vbox 2.2.0 OSE on Debian Lenny 2.6.29.1

Post by mr040 »

Hello,

I've got a problem getting VirtualBox OSE 2.2.20 run on Debian Lenny. I'm running 2.6.29.1.

The application & kernel module compiles without any problems. The kernel module loads fine according to dmesg:

Code: Select all

"vboxdrv: Trying to deactivate the NMI watchdog permanently...
vboxdrv: Successfully done.
vboxdrv: Found 2 processor cores.
vboxdrv: fAsync=0 offMin=0x15f offMax=0x708
vboxdrv: TSC mode is 'synchronous', kernel timer mode is 'normal'.
vboxdrv: Successfully loaded version 2.2.0_OSE (interface 0x000a0009)."
But when ever I try to power up a virtual machine I get the following error (disk image or partition):
"Unknown -1909 error during initialization of Runtime"

"Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component:
Machine
Interface:
IMachine {13420cbb-175a-4456-85d0-301126dfdec7}"

I've tried to remove the .VirtualBox directory which did not help and am a member of the correct group. I've tried assigning 192 - 1024 MB of RAM to the VM and different 'ide controllers' with no luck.

Any one else experience this problem?

If you remove the .VirtualBox folder, all your VMs will be lost (unless you save them somewhere else), so he already did create a new VM.

mr040, did you check the thread about 2.6.29 and debian? Have you tried the PUEL version? Those in the other thread had no issues with it.
