Networking between Host and Guest not working

Hello all,

I'm new here and i registered, because I couldn't find a solution for my issue. :(

In fact networking is not working if my laptop is not connected to a switch or hub.
What can i do that it works. :?:

Host OS is Windows Vista, guest is SuSE Linux 10, VirtualBox Version is 2.2.0,
Host adapter and real network adapter are bridged. If I am connected to the router
I can access to the internet with both OS, and I also have connection to from host to
guest via network. If I disconnect thenetwork cable I don't have connection between host and
guest.
Both (guest and host) have static ip-adresses. :?:

...some information missing?

thanks,
Thomas

The loopback adapter is what you need, look it up on microsofts site. Or add Host-Only as a second adapter.

thanks a lot,

I thought the loopbackdevice is installed as standard. It was quit easy, to install was all.
i tried to connect it to the bridge but didn't work. so I tried to estblish a connection
between the host and guest without connecting the loopbak device to the bridge and it
worked.

:) :D  thanks
