Old Game That Doesn't Work

I need help guys. I am trying to get an old game to work called F1 Manager 2000.

I have Windows Vista Home installed and it will not run the game. It won't even install it even though it works perfectly ok on my mates Vista laptop. So I opted for creating a virtual machine with XP. So far everything's ok.

XP SP1 has installed and the game has installed and configured.

However, when I go to run the game it comes up with a message box saying:

"The virtual machine window is optimized to work in 32bit color mode but the colour quality display is currently set to 16 bit".

I've set both the Virtual XP build and my laptop to 16 bit colour desktops and now I get the message when I load up the Virtual XP build even though everything is now set to 16bit.

Any suggestions as I'm pulling my hair out here (all for a stupid old game)?

Install the Guest Additions, see the Manual.

Thanks for the post.

I have installed the Guest Additions and also updated the drivers for my graphics card on my laptop. Still the same thing. The message box appears 3 times and it looks like the screen keeps trying to resize itself.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I hope you did NOT update the graphic drivers inside the Guest but only the Host? sometimes installing the GA a few times over gets you 32bit colors if at first it doesn't work.

The error you get about colour quality is when VB detects that the Guest runs with less than 32 bit colours. So if the game runs with 16 bit, then it's normal to get this message. You can ignore it.

Now if the game doesn't run, check the requirements of the game. It's possible that it needs DirectX, which VB doesn't support.
