Did you reinstall VBox with repair? do you have a DHCP server running?

Re: VBox 2.2.0 Bridged Network can't get IP from DHCP
I discovered the same problem. The new bridge mode of VirtualBox 2.2.0 seems not working under Windows XP Pro SP3.
It creates a new adapter "VirtualBox Host-Only Network" but this one finds no physical connection. Where is the other party?
I've build a bridge together with my nForce network ethernet adapter but without success.
When I set the network as NAT the settings are empty and it's not possible to access the internet from the guest system.
I go back to version 2.1.4 until the network of the new version 2.2.0 works fine as promised.

Host only does what it says, only Host-Guest communication, NAT has a dhcp problem set Guest IP manually.

Re: VBox 2.2.0 Bridged Network can't get IP from DHCP
I have a totally different problem with Bridged network, when I select Bridged network and then try to select my network card I'm not there are no network cards present. I'm able to NAT on the device just fine but I would like to bridge the device so I can get an IP and connect to the machine from outside the computer. The way I see it the new Bridge network settings don't work at all.
Re: VBox 2.2.0 Bridged Network can't get IP from DHCP
I did a second try but had deinstalled version 2.1.4 first and rebooted the PC. Then I've installed 2.2.0 again and the bridge mode was working successful.
Then I tried my Windows XP guest and discovered that the virtual network card was disabled during upgrade, I don't know why.
I had to activate the virtual network card in the guest and all was fine.

Re: VBox 2.2.0 Bridged Network can't get IP from DHCP
I don´t know if I have the same problem. VirtualBox-2.1.4-42893-Win_x86.msi was working fine; I was able to reach the Internet from inside virtualbox (Vista).
Upgrading to VirtualBox-2.2.0-45846-Win.exe; now I am NOT able to navegate. But other OS can, like Knoppix! So, it seems NOT to be an interface problem...
I rooled-back to 2.1.4, with some dificulties... (got to copy some old XML files from backup!)

NAT DHCP issue is Windows Host/Guest only: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/3655

Re: VBox 2.2.0 Bridged Network can't get IP from DHCP
This suggested workaround worked perfect for me first time. (WinXP32 host / guest). Thank you very much!!!Sasquatch wrote:NAT DHCP issue is Windows Host/Guest only: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/3655
The fix was to setup manually (Local Area Connection Properties | Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) | Properties)
IP 10.0.2.15, mask 255.255.255.0, gw 10.0.2.2, dns 10.0.2.3

Re: VBox 2.2.0 Bridged Network can't get IP from DHCP
Hello everyone,
Everything was 100% using v2.1.4
I run Windows 7 ßeta (Host is Windows XP Pro SP3)
When I upgraded to v2.2.0, I also suffured from all the network issues listed on the forum.
I finally rolled back to v2.1.4 and everything is fine again.
But the issue I still have is this:
v2.2.0 seems to have installed a Bridged Network Adapter, called "Net" when detected, but XP never was able to find any drivers for this.
I pointed to \SUN\Drivers etc... just no where to be found
I did reboot, used "REPAIR" and still can't get this installed (NOR removed) from XP.
I still have a UNKNOWN DEVICE in my network adapter in Device Manager.
Any idea where I should point, or get XP drivers for this VB Adapter ?
I will wait for v2.2.1 or above to be released before I upgrade again !

Cougar, that device is most likely the virtual NIC for Host-Only.

Oh ya, that one !Sasquatch wrote:Cougar, that device is most likely the virtual NIC for Host-Only.
But still doesn't solve my issue
It will probably auto fix itself when I upgrade again to v2.2.x (Next Build)

You can't remove it from the device manager? If you really can't, then disable it.
