Gang,
I am testing VBOX on a Windows 2003 Strd, SP2 as host running the lastest version of Vbox.
I created a Windows 2003 Strd guest , I can browse the network and access to the Internet with no problem.
The problem seems to be related with incoming connections, when I ping the guest machine by name or ip address I get TIME OUT.
I tried to enabled the Remote Desktop built in Windows 2003 but I cannot login (it times out), I also tried dissabling that and enabling the Remote Desktop comming with Vbox with same luck.
I am using the standard RD client from a windows xp machine.
I am using the NAT setting on my guest windows 2003 vmachine.
Any help?
Thanks
Gaston

Re: Remote Desktop problem in windows
Using NAT you would need to setup port forwarding (see chapter 6.4.1 VBox users manual) and also you should read 6.4.3 NAT limitations.

Re: Remote Desktop problem in windows
What other alternatives do I have if I don't want to use NAT?
I just want the Vmachine to behive like a real box (incoming and outgoing ports)
Let me know
Thanks
Gaston

You can select Briged Networking if you do not want to port forward. (This is covered in section 6.5 of the VBox users guide)
