Hello,
host is VB v2.2.0 on WinXP Pro (32 bits), Intel Core2Duo E8200, VT-x enabled
Installing Win7 beta 7000 (64 bits) using "Windows 7 (64 bits)" configuration mode. Just after install go to PC information page and see Operation mode: 32 bits.
Vista x64 shows 64 bits on the PC information page after install.
So, seems something incorrect with x64 support for Win7.
Also, Win7 beta 7000 (checked build) crashes with stop error on installer loading.
Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
Re: Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
Did you check the BIOS if vt-x is enabled?

Re: Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
Unfortunately, there is no special option in BIOS for VT-X. As I wrote in previous post Vista Ultimate x64 detects 64-bits mode and works fine, but Win7 don't.
Re: Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
Vista/xp64 can run fine on a 64bit system without vt-x, looks like win7 doesn't, in both cases a 64bit client still requires vt-x to be enabled.

Re: Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
So, is it true that guest Vista x64 will run fine on VB v2.2.0 without VT-x or with software VT-x? (Host is WinXP 32-bits)
Re: Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
VBox can't do vt-x in software, so you need vt-x for 64bit Guests.

Re: Win7 x64 issue on WinXP x32 (VB 2.2.0)
So, once again...
Host is WinXP Pro 32-bits
Vista x64 as guest: installed and working fine!
Win7 x64 as guest: installed but not working in x64 mode, x32 only.
Do you see the difference?
So, if VT-X can't be software emulated - the problem is Win7 x64 support.

Throw the man a cookie
You got it.
VT-X can't be software emulated - the problem is Win7 x64 does not support it either.
