[Solved] VirtualBox-2.2.0-45846 msi and exe

Trying to uninstall/repair VirtualBox-2.2.0-45846 in order to fix the already reported networking problem with this VB release.

Seems that the Vista (with SP1) repair program is looking for "VirtualBox-2.2.0-r45846-MultiArch_x86.msi" but my original install file is named "VirtualBox-2.2.0-45846-Win.exe.

The repair does not give an option to select an *.exe file; *.msi is the only option.

Can I just rename the "VirtualBox-2.2.0-45846-Win.exe" file to "VirtualBox-2.2.0-r45846-MultiArch_x86.msi"?

FWIW, trying to uninstall VB doesn't work.....the computer displays the "preparing to uninstall", bar graph display rolls back and then program exits without uninstalling anything.

Any thoughts on this topic would be most appreciated....thanks! :-)

The repair should be done by using the VBox install CD/image and not windows repair.

Both the repair and uninstall feature will be presented to you when you run the install.

Hello, i have a similar problem.

I have downled from VirtualBox 3.0.2 for Windows hosts x86/amd64 but it never works.

I have tried repair and uninstall and it backouts the uninstall.

I have tried to run a registry clean but that does not work.

What the blazes is the issue with this package?

There was a problem.
98% of users have success with the following:
  • Reinstall version 2.2.0 and select repair (DO NOT reboot)
  • Reinstall version 2.2.0 and select uninstall (DO NOT reboot)
  • Install the new version and when complete this time reboot.
Let me know if this does not work and I will send you a link to a more complicated way that will work.

F.Y.Y Interestingly the registry cleaners weren't able to remove the sun vurtual install ver 2.2.0.
