Problem with Network configuration (Wireless + Bridge)

Hello,

I installed VB 2.2.0 over my 2.1.4 installation a few days ago, and configured the network for my Ubuntu 8.04 guest. NAT won't work (it can ping, i can resolve ips, i can see the paquets sent through my host firewall, but on Firefox, nothing, it says "loaded" without showing anything) so i was thinking of doing a bridged network.

So, on my XP host, i made the bridge between the VB Host interface and my own network (I'm logged on a router via a Wireless card, ip of the kind 192.168.0.x). When i do this, it works perfectly, i have my VB network working very fine, i can close VB and starting it again and it'll still work (On my guest, network recognized as 192.168.0.x too, getting the ip from the routeur).

BUT, if i reboot my XP host, the Wireless card won't log on the routeur anymore, and i can't access any network if i don't remove the bridge and repair the Wireless card connexion. Only then it'll log on back, and i can do a new bridge, that will work, but won't work again once i reboot...

I'd like to get this solved, but i don't see anything else... I've tried all. If i could at least get something with NAT, that'd be nice, but i'd prefer the bridge solution.

Thanks for any help !!

Did you try installing VBox 2.2 again and telling it to repair the installation?

Edit: Don't forget to reboot after the install.

Yeap, after my first install of 2.2.0, i had to repair it to get something to select in the Network options, the problem isn't here.

I can have network, everything works perfectly, but when i reboot my Xp host, it's like the bridge doesnt work anymore, my Wireless card can't log on the network that my routeur sends. My Wireless card is the network adapter i get Internet with on XP and that i share the connexion with on VB

Check your router logs, it might block your VM if you have MAC filtering turned on.

I don't have MAC filtering on : i had, unactivated it, and the problem is still there. Seems like the bridge doesnt redirect the paquets from the routeur to the Wireless adapter...

Btw, i don't even have to start VB to get the problem. It's as soon as i reboot my Host, my host connexion doesnt work anymore. And so the VB network. I have to remove the bridge and repair my host connexion to get the network back.

Well well, some news today :

I totally removed all traces of the VirtualBox Host-Only Interface, then in Bridged Network, i selected my Wireless card, and started the machine, and WOHOO, i have network, DHCP worked perfecly and gave me a good adress.

I haven't tried to reboot my host yet to see if it keeps the changes, but i keep hoping !I'll give more news if needed ;)

-> I rebooted and it still works, i set the ip manually on my guest just to be sure it keeps the good settings. Seems like the VB Host Interface is really buggy and messes a lot with the XP Tcp/ip layer...
