Im trying to run Warcraft 3 on my Virtualbox, after installing and patching and then running it with -opengl it do starts but it aint working properly as can be seen here : http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/2207 ... hothjz.png

I've installed Virutalbox guest additions and updated DirectX. Anyone know why warcraft is rendering like crap? Also it runt fine without any problems on wine so i think it's a virtualbox problem.

Not all OpenGL functions work. It needs full working OpenGL on the Host. If you happen to have an Intel video card, then though luck, that doesn't work all that well. And if you can run it in Wine, then why run it in VB? It will only be slower.

My video card is : XFX GeForce 8800 GTS

And i want to runt it through VB cause i need Garena to work and i can't get Garena to work through wine.

How can i check if i have full working OpenGL?

That videocard should have proper OpenGL abilities in it's driver. Check which driver version you run, the Open Source driver might not have full OpenGL support, as where the GLX driver from nVidia itself does.

Im using the driver suggested by System->Administration->Hardware Drivers. Is this an open source driver then?

EDIT: tested glxgears on host and that worked fine

Do you have 3d acceleration enabled for vm?
If you do, post host log please. Because wc3 should work just fine, except some minor glitch in minimap.

Nope xD, after enabling 3d acceleration it worked the only problem now is that my fps is quite low :S, everage fps were 30 and then spiking between 25-60. My computer should be able to deliver max fps even if its running in virtualbox.

What's your host? If you have compiz turned on, try disabling it.
Your gpu doesn't work good with opengl apps running under compiz, to test launch fullscreen glxgears on your host and check fps with and without compiz.

With compiz on i got this

Code: Select all

301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
compiz off this

Code: Select all

301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.102 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.015 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.017 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.016 FPS
think my screen is limited to 60 fps atm, haven't changed from default.
Also i turned off compiz by disabling all desktop effects under Appearance->Visual Effects->None.
