I installed 2.2 as host on a fully upgraded PCLinuxOS 2009, then I installed Centos 4.7 as guest. After installing Guest Additions everything seemed to work EXCEPT the networking ...
I used "host-only network" specifically because I need to run a web server in Centos and access it from my PCLinux host. But even though I restricted the DHCP ip address range to only one value (192.168.56.101) in "File > Preferences > Network > DHCP Server" so I would know the precise ip address of the Centos guest, I still cannot retrieve any web pages from the Centos guest at that ip address when I browse from the host OS. Yes Apache is running properly and serving pages via localhost from the guest
Does anyone know if "host-only network" actually work?
It certainly doesn't work for me, so if it does work can you tell me what I need to do to get it working?
Host-only network does NOT allow http access to guest ...

Works for me. Are you sure that your Apache is listening on all interfaces and IP addresses, and not just Localhost/127.0.0.1?

Never mind, it'w working now -- for no reason whatsoever I guess.
I spent 4-5 hours on this today and couldn't seem to get it working, but now all of a sudden it *is* working, even thought I didn't do anything but restart the guest like I've done 2-3 dozen times this afternoon.
Perhaps it just got tired of not working and decided to stop hassling me and work properly ...

That's something for the Apache forums, not VB. It's not in our scope of help to include client software settings, only for VB. But you got it working, that's something good. Still, check it's config.owkaye wrote:No I'm not sure, how to I check this?Sasquatch wrote:Works for me.
