So I downloaded the Gentoo install-x86-minimal-2008.0.iso. I verified that the MD5 checksum was correct (1e75c6830cefff313fcef4320e3b5d0e). I create a new VM in VirtualBox, set the ISO as the virtual cd, boot, and get this screen....

press [ENTER], and I get....

ph33r!

A black screen of nothingness! No error message or backtrace, no output of any kind, just an empty screen. I'm running virtualbox 2.1.4 on 64-bit ubuntu with AMD-V.

Do you know how to boot Gentoo properly? Maybe you missed something. Check the other options. Maybe it uses the kernel framebuffer by default and that isn't available now or something.

Yeah, the gentoo-nofb (no framebuffer) kernel works.
