Looking for any help, I have VBox 2.2.0. Host: XP, Guest: XP.

When I try to attach a USB wifi adapter (ALFA AWUS036H) to the guest, for the very first time host Windows asks to install a "VirtualBox USB device".
Success.

Then, I do "Safely Remove Hardware" to unplug it from the host.
Success.

Then I try to attach it to the guest. And get this error:

What should I do? Thanks!

PS: I'm also running VBox in OSX Leopard, there's no such problem, I click to attach the device and its done in a split second.

Create an empty USB filter, unplug the device and boot the VM. Now after the VM is fully booted and has focus, plug the device in and it should be grabbed automatically by VB.

I am having the same problem. It seem to be a very common one. Have tried all the diffrent suggestion, such as unplugging and getting focus with no success. I have also read a post from another user who is also using an newer HP laptop like I am. I have also tried several version of VBox, now currently using 2.2. Any other suggestions or user experiences using and HP laptop.

Forgot:using Vista 64 (nothing but problems)

Thanks
