hostinterface not working on dir-655

Post by haojianguwm »

Host: Ubuntu8.10 AMDx64
Guest:Vista Ultimate 32
Router:Dlink dir-655
ISP:earth link/TimeWarner

I can set up /access router in Ubuntu. However, when I try to start Guest Vista with HostInterface, I can not get internet connection, even though I can see ipconfig gives correct ip information such as ip-v4 address and gateway e.t.c. I can still get internet if I choose NAT.

I want to use Host Interface because I am using vista to handle all the torrent download, so I need to set up portforwarding stuff in router.

Any suggestions? or insights?

You can still use NAT for the Guest. You just pick a port, forward that from the router to the Host, then in the Host, forward the same port to the Guest. Besides, torrent downloading can be done with Linux too, plenty of clients.
How do you connect to the router anyway? Is the IP the same as the Host, can you access other machines on the network?
