[RESOLVED]Ip on Server Linux on VirtualBOX

Post by sat.paolo »

I installed VirtualBox in Windows XP with a DHCP network
I have installed Linux on VirtualBox.
Assigning a fixed IP to Linux, its network does not work.
If I enable the receipt of your DHCP network works

See my signature for some useful links. Usually you use NAT, which doesn't work with static IP. Manual is a good thing to read ;).

So what did you do and why did you do it? What is your objective?

Work in a corporate network with dhcp
I installed VirtualBox on my WINDOWS XP
I installed a Linux server in my virtual machine.
I have done what is written on page 126, and now my linux server has a static ip and everything works properly.
I wanted to do the same with a virtual machine Windows XP

Thanks

Still, what did you do? You can point to a page of the manual, but you never stated what it says and which VB version you use. The manuals change each release, so taking page 126 for 2.2.0 gives me something totally different than what we're trying to do here.

How hard can it be to copy/paste that part?

Ok, what is your Host network range (it's IP address) and what did you change NAT to? Don't put them in the same range, that will cause major failure on the VM.
