Help with some type of system check failure

Post by k-bl »

Ok guys,
Problem: I just deployed my Second Ubuntu 8.1 Server that has both SBS 03 & xp running virtual. The performance is GREAT! My problem is that both systems won't allow verifying a license key for some accounting software (Sage Master Builder). I've spent many hours on the phone with tech support ensuring that everything is installed correctly.

Behavior: After inputting the license key on either system the software crashes as if something isn't installed correctly. I have to restart the system in order to get it to run again. I took a look at the event log and it says a .net class can't be referenced. The odd thing is that, other than this one exception, the software runs fine.

Question: What should I do to find out what the systems need in order to run the software?

My real problem with VirtualBox is that I haven't had any problems up to this point :). In fact, I've had so much success that I have an entire hospital considering to run the software on their million dollar servers - AMAZING!

Make sure both VM's have dot net 1.1 and 2.0 installed and fully patched.

I've had similar issues when I ran nLite in a VM with older versions. It wouldn't run. nLite is also made in .NET, so there might be some kind of incompatibility for .NET in a VM. I don't have any issues with nLite anymore though, but that doesn't mean that the .NET issues are gone. If you are 100% sure that the exact same enviroment works on normal hardware, please file a bug report in the Bugtracker. You need to create an account for it though, if you haven't done already. Your forum account doesn't work there.
