Internet fails to work on XP

Post by StiKs »

Running debian testing with virtualbox-ose running XP as guest cannot get internet working on XP. I also run ubuntu as guest and the internet works fine on it. I've tried all the options under network in the guest settings for XP and have tried installing the network drivers in XP and under device manager in XP still shows that ethernet is still not installed. Guest additions are installed mouse and sound works fine after installing the XP driver for it.

What is going wrong?

Nevermind figrued it out. Helps when you don't use nlite to remove all the drivers.

That's the point with nLite, don't mess with it if you don't know what you're doing.

When I used it I did know what I was doing. I made nlite to run a non-virtual install of XP and I didn't need those drivers when I had my own from the manufacture. I just forgot about removing them.

Thanks for your opinion.

So you still didn't know what you were doing, because you never thought about those options, you just clicked them. If you did know what you were doing, you wouldn't have posted here about audio failures. You would know that nLite was the problem and made a new ISO with the audio drivers intact.
