System:
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core. 3GB RAM. Nvidia 8800GT graphics adapter. ArchLinux. 2.6.28-ARCH kernel. Vbox 2.1.4. Guest additions installed. 3D acceleration enabled. AMD-v endabled. Nested paging enabled. PAE/NX disabled. Video RAM: tried 32, 64 and 128 - no change.
Oh the Windows XP guest, 2D functionality is very slow. Resizing windows is choppy, playing Netflix video is very slow.
Is there anything I can do to improve video performance. I have been searching the web for days and have not found a solution.
Slow 2D performance

Re: Slow 2D performance
I have almost exactly the same setup, AMD Phenom 9800x4, 6GB ram and 8800GT graphics adapter and exactly the same problem. (ubuntu host, XP guest)
Here's the thread I started, http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15876.
Do you get any error messages in your log file when you start up the VM, or does it say everything is working fine like mine?

Try disabling VT.

Re: Slow 2D performance
Disabling VT helped, but Netflix is still pretty choppy. Hulu and Youtube work fine. Maybe it's a Silverlight problem.
No errors, the VM is working fine, just slower than I would expect.

Hmm, no, never installed it. It's worth a shot.
Thanks.

Re: Slow 2D performance
No, didn't help at all.
I'm going to take a different tack. I'm going to grab a cheap machine from the shop, but XP on it, hook it to my network and TV.
Just thought it would be kind of cool, but VM is just too slow for multimedia.
Thanks for trying to help.
