Windows XP application installation

Post by lmoreira »

Hi All,
I have installed VirtualBox on Ubuntu 8.10 and installed windows XP professional as a guest. Everything works very well, except that when I try to install an application from a disk, I can not see some of the files that are on the disk in the Windows guest system but I can see them when looking at the disk in the linux host. I have mounted the drive properly and this is a ligit software. I can install this software in a windows machine and I was able to install it on my Linux system using Wine.
The other strange thing is that the setup prompt as I initiate installation is missing the option to install the application.
any help will be appreciated.
Best Regards
Luis

Please give more info. What are you doing with the installer, how are you installing the program?

Hi,
I am installing directly from the CD. I get the splash panel for the setup but the option to install the application is missing, I only have the option to install the datasheets. Also when I explore the disk some files are not there, but when I do the same on the Linux host they are there.
Best regards

Is there some copy protection on it or something? Tried it with passthrough enabled? Else create an ISO of the cd and use that.
