Help with seamless windows

Post by paolino »

Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 Server with guest additions installed on Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop. I have installed the package xserver-xorg-core to enable the seamless windows feature, but it does not work.

Does it require a running X server? I'd not need one...

Thanks

Seamless is only available if you actually have windows to be displayed on the Guest. If you do everything from a command line, what's the point for seamless? Just installing Xorg isn't enough. You also need a Desktop Manager and Window Manager. Gnome, for example.

Isn't seamless windows that feature of guest additions that allows the mouse cursor to move in/out of the guest windows without click mouse button/press the Host key? In this case I'd really use it when there is the host window at full screen in background and the little guest window on the top, and I don't want press the Host key to exit from the guest.

Does it make sense?

TIA
