Why are you doing all that trouble of installing server, and then install the desktop package for the GUI? Why not just install Ubuntu Desktop from the start? This kinda beats the purpose of a server.

Yes, I realize this. Forgot to install gui off the bat, so I just ran with it on cli and, as stated, added the gui later. I realize this is ass-backwards.
