Problems with VB on Ubuntu...

Post by andrewp »

Hi All,

This is my first post in VirtualBox on Linux Hosts.

I've installed, as usual, VirtualBox in Ubuntu 8.10 and that runs perfect. However; last week I've installed VB on a Ubuntu 8.10 distro, I've installed Windows XP and I've updated it.
Then I've installed an accounting application that only works on Windows and NERO for burning CDs. Two days later all both application has been uninstalled automatically (!?)

I've checked the Windows register and I found a trace of my accounting software. That software is original, not a trial version and NERO burning as well.

How I can solve this problem?... I've installed three times tha software and it is missing thre days later.

Thank you.

P.D.: I've updated VirtualBox as well but problem persist.

Are you sure it's VB that's causing this? Not a hidden application that removes things? I've seen this kind of behaviour outside of VB before, so I doubt it's VB.

Thank you by quick reply!...

Well... I've installed the VB as usual (downloading the file from VB's website), then I've installed the windows OS following the instructions. In all my linux distros (Ubuntu included) always I've installed the VB and never I've had problems.
There isn't application outside can do it. Even if I take a snapshot of my last configuration it's going.

Thanks.

Do you see entries in the Guest eventlogs that it got installed? then you must also see entries about it being removed. Is the VDI writable?
